Cyborg 009 Nemesis New Anime Announced on 61st Anniversary of Iconic Series

Legacy continues!

On July 19, Ishimori Production announced a brand-new anime titled Cyborg 009 Nemesis, marking a fresh chapter in the legendary Cyborg 009 franchise created by Shotaro Ishinomori. The news arrives on the 61st anniversary of the original manga’s debut, celebrating its enduring legacy.

Cyborg 009 first debuted in Weekly King (published by Shonen Gahosha) on July 19, 1964. Last year marked the 60th anniversary of the iconic series, prompting a wave of new projects, including a stage adaptation and a vertical full-color manga remake.

Discotek Media has previously released the 2001–2002 television anime series Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier on Blu-ray with an English-language option. The company describes the series as follows:

Joe Shimamura never quite fit in. An orphan with a troubled past, he awakens to find himself imprisoned and changed forever, the unwitting recipient of a new cyborg body, both strong and inhumanly fast. Before he can learn his captors’ evil plans, Joe is rescued by a team of eight outcasts from around the world, outcasts just like him, with formidable cyborg bodies. With nothing to lose, Joe becomes the ninth member of the renegade cyborg group: he is Cyborg 009!

Now, the cyborgs are ready to defend the world against Black Ghost, the ruthless international arms syndicate that created them!
