Cyborg 009: Nemesis Anime Set for Summer 2026 Release

Hideki Anbo directs the anime at ARECT.

A new Cyborg 009 animation titled “Cyborg 009: Nemesis”, based on the work of Shotaro Ishinomori, is set to debut on Japanese streaming platforms in summer 2026.

Voice actor Yuichi Nakamura will join the cast as the new character Nemesis 009, also known as Graviton. A teaser visual along with initial staff details has also been revealed.

The theme song has been confirmed as “Taga Tame ni”, written by Ishinomori himself. Originally used as the opening theme for the 1979 TV anime Cyborg 009, the song has been newly rearranged for this adaptation and will be performed by Kyoko.

Discotek Media has previously released the 2001–2002 television anime series Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier on Blu-ray with an English-language option. The company describes the series as follows:

Joe Shimamura never quite fit in. An orphan with a troubled past, he awakens to find himself imprisoned and changed forever, the unwitting recipient of a new cyborg body, both strong and inhumanly fast. Before he can learn his captors’ evil plans, Joe is rescued by a team of eight outcasts from around the world, outcasts just like him, with formidable cyborg bodies. With nothing to lose, Joe becomes the ninth member of the renegade cyborg group: he is Cyborg 009!

Now, the cyborgs are ready to defend the world against Black Ghost, the ruthless international arms syndicate that created them!
