Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Original Anime Film Reveals Ending Theme and Special Track

The production will be handled by Studio Colorido/ Studio Chromato.

To coincide with the Netflix release of the anime film Cosmic Princess Kaguya! on January 22, new details have been revealed about the movie’s ending theme and special track.

The ending theme, titled “ray Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Version” is performed by Kaguya, voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi, and Yachiyo Tsukimi, voiced by Saori Hayami. The song is a newly arranged version of “ray”, originally released in 2014 by BUMP OF CHICKEN, featuring Hatsune Miku their first-ever guest artist. This new arrangement was produced by TAKU INOUE.

In addition, a special track has been announced: “Melt CPK! Remix”, produced by ryo (supercell) and featuring Kaguya. The song is a new remix of “Melt,” the iconic Vocaloid hit originally released in 2007. Another remix, “World is Mine CPK! Remix,” has also been confirmed, along with the film’s main theme, “Ex-Otogibanashi”. These tracks mark the third time ryo has contributed music to Cosmic Princess Kaguya!.

Commenting on the production, ryo said that he initially wanted Yuko Natsuyoshi, Kaguya’s voice actress, to perform the vocals and searched for a sound that would make her voice especially captivating.

Further announcements have also been revealed. “Melt CPK! Remix”, will premiere today, January 22, at 9:00 PM (JST), followed by “World is Mine CPK! Remix” tomorrow, January 23, also at 9:00 PM. In addition, the music video for “ray Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Version” is scheduled to premiere on YouTube on January 31 at 9:00 PM.

“Melt CPK! Remix” will be released in a special version performed by Hatsune Miku. “World is Mine CPK! Remix” will feature a scene that pays homage to the original “ray”.

For the “ray Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Version” music video, Shingo Yamashita director of Cosmic Princess Kaguya! will serve as the director. The new video explores untold backstory elements and depicts the aftermath that was not shown in the original main story.

Netflix describes Cosmic Princess Kaguya! as follows:

Tsukuyomi is a virtual realm where hopes and dreams come together. Iroha Sakayori, a 17-year-old high school student in Tokyo, leads an extremely busy life trying to balance part-time work and academics. She finds peace by watching a popular streamer named Yachiyo Runami, who is the administrator of an online virtual space called Tsukuyomi. Iroha frequents Tsukuyomi, where people can live different lives and freely pursue their creativity, and she passes the time by supporting Yachiyo and playing battle game to earn a little extra money.

On her way home one day, Iroha finds a telephone pole shining with iridescent hues. To her surprise, an adorable baby emerges from the pole. Unable to abandon it, Iroha takes the infant home and watches her rapidly grow into a girl her own age.

“Are you Princess Kaguya?” The grown-up Kaguya develops a self-indulgent personality. At Kaguya’s fervent request, Iroha helps her start streaming in Tsukuyomi. With Iroha as producer and songwriter and Kaguya as streamer and singer, the two grow steadily closer. Little do they know that ominous forces lie in wait, eager to take Kaguya back to the moon.

This is the tale of Princess Kaguya as never seen before.
