The latest box office results for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, released on September 19, have been announced. Within its first three days, the film drew over 807,000 viewers and generated more than 1.25 billion yen in revenue. For the weekend of September 19–21, it ranked second in mobilization, just behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle the first film, which has held the top spot for nine consecutive weeks since its release (according to the Box Office News Agency).
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc opened in 421 theaters across Japan and drew more than 272,000 viewers on its first day, earning over 420 million yen at the box office. According to distributor TOHO, the film is off to a strong start and is expected to aim for a final box office total of around 5 billion yen.
In addition, the first film of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle drew 23,621,279 moviegoers and grossed 34,011,490,700 yen within 66 days of its release. Over the weekend alone, it attracted 390,000 viewers in just three days, generating 645 million yen at the box office.

INTRODUCTION:
“Chainsaw Man” is a manga serialized in Shueisha’s “Shonen Jump+” that has sold over 30,000,000 copies. In 2022, the series was broadcast as a TV Anime series that was made by animation studio MAPPA (Notable works: “JUJUTSU KAISEN”, “Attack on Titan Final Season”, etc.), creating buzz all over the world. Now in 2025, the episode that made the world go wild during its serialization is coming to theaters as an animated movie!
STORY:
Denji (Kikunosuke Toya) became “Chainsaw Man”, a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima (Tomori Kusunoki), the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain and meets a girl called Reze (Reina Ueda). The girl, who works at a nearby café, gives him a gentle smile, and they quickly grow close. From this encounter onward, Denji’s everyday life begins to change.
The first season of Chainsaw Man was a huge success, with memorable characters and a unique aesthetic. VIZ Media releases the manga in English, Crunchyroll describes the series as such:
Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.
One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man” — a man with a devil’s heart.
