BLUELOCK Anime Sequel & Live-Action Film Officially Announced

The hit soccer battle series BLUE LOCK is leveling up once again.

A new TV anime adaptation of Yusuke Nomura‘s BLUE LOCK, based on Muneyuki Kaneshiro‘s original work, is set to be produced. Simultaneously, a live-action film adaptation has also been confirmed.

This information was announced today, September 28, at the “BLUELOCK EGOIST FESTA 2025” in Tokyo. When the decision was made to produce a new TV anime series, comments were shared by Kaneshiro and Nomura.

Official announcement:

The anime’s first season, which aired from October 2022 to March 2023, became a global sensation and even inspired the hit film BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI-. Now, Season 3 is set to bring the fan-favorite Neo Egoist League Arc to life, where Japan’s top strikers clash with eccentric, world-class rivals in an international showdown like no other.

Muneyuki Kaneshiro (Original Story):
“Season 3 is officially confirmed!!! We did it… Huge thanks to the entire Egoist production team…! This marks a brand-new beginning for Isagi and for us as well! We’ll be creating this with full ego, eyes spinning, and tongues out, so get on your knees and wait for it!”

Yusuke Nomura (Manga):
“It’s finally been announced! A brand-new anime series!! We’re finally bringing the Neo Egoist League to life on screen. The eccentric international players—who are even more intense than the Blue Lock team—are coming. Please wait for it!”

BLUE LOCK is set for a live-action adaptation, releasing across Japan in summer 2026 to coincide with the World Cup. Produced by CREDEUS the studio behind Kingdom, Golden Kamuy, and the blockbuster Kokuhou the film promises to bring the anime’s intense, ego-driven soccer battles to life on the big screen.

The anime is based on the award-winning manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura. BLUELOCK is directed by Tetsuaki Watanabe and assistant-directed by Shunsuke Ishikawa at studio eightbit.

Crunchyroll is streaming both the ongoing seasons and BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI-, which it describes as follows:

Japan’s desire for World Cup glory leads the Japanese Football Association to launch a new rigorous training program to find the national team’s next striker. Three hundred high school players are pitted against each other for the position, but only one will come out on top. Who among them will be the striker to usher in a new era of Japanese soccer?
