The main visual, official trailer, and theme song details have been revealed for AS ONE, the feature-length anime film serving as a prequel to Square Enix’s arcade game Starwing Paradox. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on August 22.
The theme song, titled “Meguriboshi”, is performed by RUKI (from JO1). A preview of the track can be heard in the newly released trailer.

AS ONE is a prequel set 20 years before the events of Starwing Paradox. In response to Square Enix’s vision of creating a film that wasn’t constrained by the game’s content but focused on delivering an engaging story, director Shizuno developed the concept and crafted an original narrative alongside the screenwriter. Sadamoto, responsible for the original character designs, reimagined all the characters specifically for the film’s production.
Directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters), the film will feature character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, best known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion and Great Pretender.
