Aoashi Manga Concludes as Kobayashi Prepares New Manga

The series comes to an end today after 10 years!

Yūgo Kobayashi just ended the Aoashi soccer manga in this year’s 30th issue of Shogakukan‘s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine, published on Monday. The same issue also revealed that the manga creator is set to launch a brand-new series in the magazine in spring 2026.

Volume 1:

Yūgo Kobayashi launched Aoashi in Weekly Big Comic Spirits back in January 2015. Naohiko Ueno contributed research and co-developed the original story through to volume 17. The manga is set to reach a total of 40 collected volumes, with over 15 million copies currently in circulation.

A second season of the anime Aoashi has been announced for next year, this time produced by TMS Entertainment. The first season originally aired in 2022, with animation by Production I.G. The series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, which also provides the official synopsis:

After a loss in his last junior high school soccer tourney, Ehime Prefecture’s ace player, Ashito Aoi, is devastated but in every loss there’s a victory. Tatsuya Fukuda, manager of an organization that trains students for one of the leading clubs in the J-League, sees Ashito’s raw talent and offers a tryout to his group. Together they’ll bring the youth club and Aoshi’s talents to new heights!
