Netflix has officially begun production on the first live-action film based on the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, and the main cast has also been revealed. The film will be directed by Jim Mickle and is set for release on Netflix. Filming reportedly started in April in Queensland, Australia.

The project is being produced by Legendary Pictures in collaboration with Bandai Namco Filmworks. Executive producers include Matthew Jenkins, Makoto Asanuma, and Naohiro Ogata, all of whom have previously worked on multiple Gundam projects. The live-action adaptation was originally announced back in 2018.
