Japanese four-piece band muque has been chosen to perform the ending theme for the Egghead Arc of the legendary anime ONE PIECE. Titled ‘The 1’, the song marks the band’s first-ever anime theme, and is part of their growing rise on the Japanese music scene.

Produced by takachi, the track blends a drum’n’bass foundation with an emotional chord progression, creating an energetic yet introspective sound. It’s the band’s most complex arrangement to date, with contributions from bassist Lenon and guitarist Kenichi adding layers of movement beneath Asakura’s expansive vocals.
Lyrically, ‘The 1’ touches on the theme of inner strength, expressing how we draw power from our past and from the support of our friends. The accompanying lyric video, animated by illustrator Nui, features a nostalgic 90s-inspired aesthetic.

Formed in Fukuoka in May 2022, muque is composed of Asakura (vocals/guitar), Lenon (bass), takachi (drums/programming), and Kenichi (guitar). Their music blends global influences with Japanese emotional depth, and their name—derived from the French “musique” and Japanese “muku” (“purity”)—reflects their commitment to creating music on their own terms.
From May 2025, they will be touring in concert as part of their “Ride On” 2025 tour.
