The 2025 Music Awards Japan nominees have officially been revealed by the Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association. The prestigious event will be held over two days on May 21 and 22, 2025 at the ROHM Theatre Kyoto, with the final day broadcast live on NHK and livestreamed globally via YouTube (except in select regions).
This year’s selection includes 251 nominated works from 65 artists, chosen from over 3,000 entries.
Notable names for anime fans include YOASOBI, Creepy Nuts, and Mrs. GREEN APPLE, all nominated in major categories such as Best Artist and Best Song.
In the Best Anime Song category, the following tracks are featured:
“Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts (Mashle: Magic and Muscles OP)
“Idol” by YOASOBI (OSHI NO KO OP)
“Lilac” by Mrs. GREEN APPLE (Oblivion Battery OP)
“Dai Zero Kan” by 10-FEET (The First Slam Dunk ED)
In addition to anime themes, the awards also spotlight top performers in categories like Best New Artist, Best Album, and Top Global Hit From Japan.
Highlights include:
- Fujii Kaze, who leads all artists with 17 nominations
- Best Albums by Utada Hikaru, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, Kenshi Yonezu, and Vaundy
- Global hits like YOASOBI’s viral “Idol”, XG’s “WOKE UP”, and Miki Matsubara’s TikTok-fueled classic “Mayonaka no Door (Stay With Me)”
