MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN (MAJ), Japan’s largest music awards ceremony, held its second edition on June 13 at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO, celebrating the artists shaping the country’s music scene and its growing global presence.
Mrs. GREEN APPLE won Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year, while Fujii Kaze repeated as Album of the Year winner with his English-language album “Prema”. Rock band sakanaction earned multiple awards for “Kaiju”, including Song of the Year.
Among the night’s other major winners, HANA was named New Artist of the Year, XG received Best Global Hit from Japan for “HYPNOTIZE” and HUNTR/X from the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters won Best Song Asia with “Golden”.
The ceremony also featured performances from Fujii Kaze, sakanaction, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, Kenshi Yonezu and Hitsujibungaku. International artists were also part of the event, including the Philippines’ Cup Of Joe, Indonesia’s Hindia and British singer Sam Smith.
With a larger scale and stronger international presence than its inaugural edition, MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 reinforced its ambition to become one of Asia’s leading music awards events.
