Japanese four-piece band muque, released their new digital single “nevermind” on July 24, 2024. The band features members Asakura (vocals and guitar), Lenon (bass), takachi (trackmaking and drums), and Kenichi (guitar).

“nevermind” is a poppy rock song with a tight rhythm and breezy guitar riff. The lyrics, sung by Asakura, encourage listeners to pursue their dreams without worrying about others’ opinions. A music video for ‘nevermind’, produced by GROUPN, was released on the same day. The surreal video follows a girl immersed in music through her headphones, with the band members playing in the background.

Based in Fukuoka, Japan, muque formed in May 2022. They released their first digital single, “escape”, in June 2022, followed by the EP “tape” in December 2022, and the singles “Blue light” and “TIME” in 2023.
The band’s songs are produced by takachi and Asakura, with takachi handling trackmaking, arranging, and drums, and Asakura in charge of melody and lyrics. Takachi draws influence from global music, while Asakura excels in lyrical worldbuilding and distinctive harmonies.
muque gained attention from Japanese media such as Eggs and radio station J-Wave, and were featured on Spotify’s ‘RADAR: Early Noise’ and ‘Kirakira Pop: Japan’ playlists. They began performing live in spring 2023 and quickly became known for their high level of musicality. The band name muque merges the French word “musique” (meaning “music”) and the Japanese word “muku” (meaning “innocence”), signifying their desire to make pure, untainted music.
