Studio Khara has celebrated its 20th anniversary. The studio was originally created by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno to help rebuild and continue the Evangelion franchise.
To mark the anniversary, Anno thanked fans for their support. Director Kazuya Tsurumaki, known for his work on Evangelion films and other projects, also contributed by drawing Rei Ayanami.

The Evangelion franchise itself is also celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Meanwhile, Studio Khara continues to expand beyond Evangelion with new productions.
Upcoming projects include an anime adaptation of Sugar Sugar Rune, a new Space Battleship Yamato film directed by Hideaki Anno, and a new Evangelion-related series written by Yoko Taro.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was directed by Hideaki Anno and produced by Gainax. It aired for 26 episodes between 1995 and 1996. Two films followed in 1997: Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion.
The franchise later returned with the four-film Rebuild of Evangelion series by Studio Khara, released from 2007 to 2021, ending with Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.
