Fans of Gintama will soon be able to watch the new movie Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames on Netflix. The film will be available on Netflix starting August 27, 2026.
The movie brings back one of the most popular arcs from the original series, the Yoshiwara in Flames Arc, with a brand-new animated adaptation.

The original Gintama TV anime first premiered in 2006 and continued until 2018, with four seasons released over the years. The franchise has also received several anime movies, including Gintama THE FINAL in 2021, as well as the Gintama on Theater 2D compilation films.
The series also expanded with an anime adaptation of the spin-off Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class.
According to Crunchyroll’s official synopsis, the story follows:
In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
