Future GPX Cyber Formula is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2026 with several new projects, marking the franchise’s long-awaited return. The highlight is a brand-new six-minute anime short directed by Mitsuo Fukuda. The short will be fully hand-animated, with no CG involved.
Renowned creator Shoji Kawamori has also contributed a new machine design, the Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G.
Alongside the anime, a new video game titled Future GPX Cyber Formula Spiral is in development. It will feature strategic racing elements and an original story supervised by Fukuda.
While no release date has been announced yet, an anniversary video and new visual by Takahiro Yoshimatsu have already been revealed.

Originally aired in 1991, Future GPX Cyber Formula became a cult classic, with multiple OVA sequels released throughout the 1990s. This upcoming short marks the franchise’s first new animated project in 26 years.
