Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 Countdown Project Begins Ahead of October 2027 Premiere

A countdown project has officially begun for the October 2027 premiere of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3, which will adapt the “Golden Land Arc”. The anime is based on the original manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe.

To celebrate the anime’s third anniversary, which marks three years since the series began airing in September, Madhouse has also revealed a special anniversary visual.

As part of the countdown to Season 3, new illustrations from animators and staff who worked on the anime will be released one by one.

For the first illustration, Keisuke Kojima, one of the series’ character designers, drew Frieren, Fern, and Stark. Frieren can be seen holding a grimoire with a humorous message: “The magic to make three seasons air in one more year.”

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga is written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, VIZ Media releases the manga in English. Crunchyroll is stream the series and describes the story as follows:

The mage Frieren defeated the Demon King alongside the hero Himmel’s party after a 10-year quest. Peace was restored to the kingdom. Because she is an elf, she is able to live over a thousand years. She promises Himmel and the others that she will be back to see them and then sets out on a journey by herself. Fifty years later, Frieren goes to visit Himmel and the others. She remained unchanged, but Himmel and the others have aged and only a little of their lives remain. Later, she witnesses Himmel’s death. Frieren is pained by her desire to have spent more time getting to know people. With that regret in her heart, she then goes on a journey to do just that. On her journey, she meets many people and many events await her.
