Doraemon series has announced that the annual “Doraemon Birthday Special” will air in Japan on September 6. Although Doraemon’s official birthday is September 3, 2112, a special episode is broadcast every year on the first Friday of September to celebrate the character.

This year’s episode is titled “Konkon Daikonran! Yougisha wa Doraemon!?”. The story follows a major incident in the 22nd century. A valuable jewel worth 1 billion yen, called the Smile of Dorayaki, is stolen from the mansion of a billionaire named Richie. Security footage shows Doraemon as the suspect, even though he is innocent.
Wrongfully accused, Doraemon becomes a wanted fugitive across different eras. A large bounty is placed on his head, attracting many unusual bounty hunters who try to capture him.
Created by Fujiko F. Fujio, Doraemon remains one of Japan’s most iconic franchises. The anime, produced by Shin-Ei Animation, has aired more than 3,000 episodes since its debut in 1979.
