Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle First Movie Finishes Theatrical Run After 266 Days

Over 40 billion yen box office!

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle first movie has officially ended its long theatrical run in Japan after 266 days in cinemas. The film finished screening in most theaters on April 9, although a few locations, such as ufotable CINEMA in Tokushima, will continue limited showings.

According to official figures, the movie earned 40.2 billion yen in Japan, with more than 27.4 million tickets sold. Worldwide, the film reached 117.9 billion yen (around $740 million), with over 98.5 million tickets sold.

These results make Infinity Castle Part 1 the second highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history, ranking just behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train.

The film also achieved major success internationally. It became the highest-grossing anime film worldwide in 2025 and performed strongly at the North American box office.

In addition, Infinity Castle Part 1 received several awards, including Best Animation Film at the Japan Academy Film Prize and Best International Animated Film at the Saturn Awards.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first installment of the “Infinity Castle Arc” trilogy, which portrays the climactic battle between Tanjiro’s nemesis, Muzan Kibutsuji, other demons, and the Demon Slayer Corps. The second and third chapters of the trilogy are set to be released in the future.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is directed by Haruo Sotozaki at the anime studio ufotableAkira Matsushima serves as the Chief Animation Director and Character Designer, while the music is composed by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina.

Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon.

While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.

As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.

The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.
