Crunchyroll has announced today that the anime adaptation of Inio Asano’s manga DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION will begin streaming on the platform on May 23 at 8:00 p.m. PT. The series will release in an episodic format complemented by new footage not seen in the theatrical features. It will be screened as an 18-part TV series (new episodes will be available weekly).

Synopsis: As the world is threatened by the sudden appearance of a mysterious alien mothership, best friends Koyama Kadode and Nakagawa “Ontan” Oran carry on about their high school life. But as they grow up, they face existential questions, learning adulthood’s complexities and that the true threat may not be from above.
Two movies based on the manga were released, with the first part premiering on March 22 and the second part set to debut in Japan on May 24, 2024. VIZ Media, publishes the manga’s official English version.

Produced by Production +h., it marks the first full-fledged anime adaptation of Asano‘s creations. The director is Tomoyuki Kurokawa, with Reiko Yoshida (A Silent Voice) overseeing series scripts. Nobutake Ito serves as the character designer, Mika Nishimura as the art director, and Taro Umebayashi (Yuri!!! On Ice) composes the music.
