Grendizer U Releases Second Trailer, Additional Cast Members and More!

The TV anime “Grendizer U” by Go Nagai is scheduled to begin airing in Japan in July 2024. Alongside this announcement, new cast members have been revealed, showcasing new mecha visuals, and a second trailer has been released. In the second trailer, you can listen to a TV-sized version of the opening theme “Kaishin no Ichigeki” by GLAY.

Grendizer U is a modern adaptation of Go Nagai‘s iconic manga and anime UFO Robo Grendizer, originally from 1975. It gained international fame under titles like Grandizer and Goldorak, being featured in popular series like Force Five and the Shogun Warriors toy line. This collaboration between Japan and Saudi Arabia is a project by Manga Productions.

Grendizer U anime describes the plot as follows:

A man who fell into the desert has no memory. He was picked up by Koji Kabuto and named Daisuke. While the days seem to be peaceful, an unidentified phenomenon appears in the skies above the world’s major cities. It was Vega Star, a military force from a star system far away from Earth. Humanity is overrun by Vega, which is far superior to Earth’s weapons. Mazinger Z soars above the pool of water, Earth’s last hope faces an uphill battle against saucer beasts. In the midst of this desperate situation, a legendary hero appears out of dust. Riding on board is Daisuke, who turns out to be Duke Fleed, the prince who was forced to flee his home, planet Fleed…
