The Quintessential Quintuplets* Anime Officially Announced!

Creator Negi Haruba drafts story for new anime.

The production of the new anime ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets*‘ has been announced as the fifth of five major projects commemorating the fifth anniversary of the broadcast of the ‘The Quintessential Quintuplets‘ anime series, which is based on Negi Haruba’s original work. This was revealed at Day 2 of the event “The Quintessential Quintuplets 5th Anniversary EVENT” in Japan on April 28.

Negi Haruba personally conceived the original story and is overseeing all aspects of the anime, which follows Fūtarō and the quintuplets on their honeymoon trip.

Official announcement:

As part of the fifth-anniversary plans, there will be:

  • A key animation exhibition
  • An event at Yokohama Arena
  • The streaming release of the song “Kimi datta kara,” a Best Album, and the streaming release of a Futaro character song, “Iroasenai Kimochi”
  • A new light novel supervised by Haruba

The previous adaptations of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime include two TV anime seasons released in 2019 and 2021, an anime movie in 2022, and a two-part TV anime special titled The Quintessential Quintuplets~ in 2023. These adaptations are based on Negi Haruba’s manga, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine starting in 2017 and concluded in 2020 with a total of 14 tankoubon volumes.

Kodansha USA describes the story as follows:

Five girls who want to do anything but study, and their tutor: a high school boy who’s got book smarts and not much else. Futaro Uesugi took the tutoring gig because he was desperate for cash, but when his students—the five beautiful daughters of a wealthy businessman—find five times the excuses to slack off, what can he do?! At this rate, the sisters won’t graduate, so if he wants to get paid, Futaro must think of a plan to suit each of them … Which feels hopeless when five out of five of them think he’s a loser!
