Renowned illustrator and character designer Mutsumi Inomata, known for her work in various anime and the Tales of series, Dragon Quest, passed away on March 10, at the age of 63.
Born in 1960 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Inomata contributed to anime like Plawres Sanshirou, Leda: The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, Windaria, Tenjouhen: Utsunomiko, and worked on notable roles such as original character designer for Future GPX Cyber Formula, co-chief animator for Sengoku Majin Goshogun, and uniform draft designer for Mai-Hime. She was also involved in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny.
JRPG fans recognize her for her character designs in the Tales of series, including Tales of Destiny, Tales of Graces f, Tales of Xillia, and Tales of Zestiria, among others. Inomata also designed characters for games like Yami no Ketsuzoku: Haruka Naru Kioku and the Emit volumes, and illustrated for novels such as The Weathering Continent and Maboroshi no Shogun.
