The Association of Japanese Animations (AJA) has announced the Nippon Anime Awards, a new awards program launching in 2027. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of TOKYO ANIME NEXT on November 2 at Tokyo Tatemono Brillia HALL in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.
The first awards ceremony will take place on November 21, 2027, at SGC HALL ARIAKE in Tokyo. Under the slogan “Moving Frames. Moving Hearts. Moving the World.”, the awards will celebrate outstanding anime productions and the people behind them, while highlighting the global influence of Japanese animation.
The initiative will also focus on creating new business opportunities for the anime industry and supporting the next generation of talent, in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The announcement was part of TOKYO ANIME NEXT‘s four-day program, which featured anime screenings, workshops, industry talks, and special events.

The main event also included live orchestral performances by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, joined by Mai Kuraki, Nami Nakagawa, and Ai Higuchi. Together, they brought iconic scenes and music from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Attack on Titan, and Detective Conan to life.

With the launch of the Nippon Anime Awards, the AJA aims to establish a major awards program celebrating Japanese anime in Japan and around the world.
