CHERRY AND VIRGIN Anime Film Reveals Two New Teaser Visuals

The film was originally scheduled to premiere in 2022.

Two teaser visuals for the upcoming feature-length animated film CHERRY AND VIRGIN, directed by Masayoshi Kawajiri, have been released. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japan in 2027.

CHERRY AND VIRGIN will also be screened at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, taking place from October 26 to November 4. Following the screening, director Masayoshi Kawajiri will participate in a teach-in event.

The film is also set to appear at international film festivals around the world, including the Chiang Mai International Fantastic Film Festival 2026 and the Chicago International Film Festival.

The story follows Ryo, an erotic manga artist struggling with creative block, and Ami, a “fujoshi” who dreams of becoming a professional writer but feels disconnected from real-life relationships. As two people with no romantic experience, they gradually confront the challenges, pain, and beauty of connecting with others.
