“Black Bullet” is returning to print with “Black Bullet: New World Order,” a light novel reboot scheduled to launch in Japan in November 2026.
Dengeki Bunko announced a four-month publication schedule, with two books arriving simultaneously each month through February 2027. The announcement also teased a new chapter in the story, though further plot details have not been disclosed.
An accompanying promotional video features Yuki Kaji and Rina Hidaka, who voiced Rentaro Satomi and Enju Aihara in the 2014 anime adaptation.
The release schedule begins with volumes 1 and 2 in November. Volume 3 will follow in December in two parts, with two-part editions of volumes 4 and 5 arriving in January and February, respectively. Eight books are scheduled across the four months.
Written by Shiden Kanzaki and illustrated by Saki Ukai, the original “Black Bullet” light novels debuted under the Dengeki Bunko imprint in 2011. Seven volumes were published through 2014.
The series follows Rentaro Satomi and his partner, Enju Aihara, in a world devastated by Gastrea, a parasitic virus. Humanity survives behind protective barriers, while specialized teams fight the threat with help from children whose infections grant them extraordinary abilities.
The novels inspired a four-volume manga adaptation by Morinohon. Yen Press licensed both the original novels and the manga for English publication.
Kinema Citrus and Orange produced the 13-episode anime adaptation, directed by Masayuki Kojima. It aired from April to July 2014, with a cast that also included Yui Horie as Kisara Tendo, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Tina Sprout and Rikiya Koyama as Kagetane Hiruko.
The “New World Order” announcement concerns the light novels; it does not announce a new anime production.
