Spotify and Billboard Japan have announced a new joint concert called “Women In Music — EQUAL STAGE”. The event will take place on June 9 at SGC Hall Ariake in Tokyo, as part of MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK.
The concert will highlight rising women artists in Japan across different music styles. It aims to support gender equality in the music industry, a cause both companies are actively promoting.
The lineup includes popular acts such as dance-pop group ATARASHII GAKKO!, rappers Awich and LANA, and rock duo Hitsujibungaku. The event will showcase some of the most exciting female voices in Japan’s current music scene.
TV Asahi announcer Chie Honma will host the event as MC. EQUAL STAGE is part of the larger MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN WEEK, which features several concerts and programs leading up to the main MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN ceremony.
Spotify also offers a special playlist featuring songs from all the artists performing at the event, highlighting the project’s goal of promoting women in music in Japan.
