The original manga by Kazuki Takahashi was published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1996 to 2004. It includes 38 volumes and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, including digital editions.
The franchise became even more famous thanks to the trading card game based on it, which was recognized by Guinness World Records as the best-selling trading card game in the world.
The exhibition will feature rare original drawings, early concept materials, character sketches, and monster designs. Exclusive merchandise will also be sold. More details will be announced in late August.
At the moment, the exhibition is only planned for Tokyo, with no international dates confirmed.
The anime adaptation of Yu-Gi-Oh! (2000–2004) and later series are available for streaming on Crunchyroll:
Meet Yugi and his best buds Joey, Tristan and Téa. They share a love for the newest game that’s sweeping the nation: Duel Monsters!
Legend has it 5000 years ago, ancient Egyptian Pharaohs used to play a magical game very similar to Duel Monsters. This ancient game involved magical ceremonies, which were used to foresee the future and ultimately decide one’s destiny. They called it the Shadow Games. Since the game used so many magical spells and ferocious creatures, it wasn’t long before the game got out of hand and threatened to destroy the world.
