Additional cast details for the TV anime Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You have been revealed, along with a new key visual showcasing the characters. The anime is set to premiere in July 2026 on Crunchyroll.
It was also announced that an ABEMA-exclusive early streaming version will roll out all 12 episodes sequentially starting June 3 at 8:30 PM. Furthermore, on July 4, a special broadcast will air featuring all episodes at once, along with a cast talk program.

The series began serialization on X (formerly Twitter) on March 9, 2022. It is now also being serialized in Square Enix’s monthly magazine Big Gangan. The manga won first place in the Web Manga category of the Next Manga Awards 2022.
Square Enix publishes the series in English and describes the story as follows:
At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can’t find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he’s made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn’t realize he already knows her!
