The main trailer and key visual for the TV anime Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You have been released. The anime is set to premiere in July 2026. The announcement was made today, March 28, at AnimeJapan 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo.
The theme songS has also been revealed: Zutomayo will perform the opening theme, while the ending theme, titled “Fiction”, will be performed by imase and is featured in the first PV.

The series began serialization on X (formerly Twitter) on March 9, 2022. It is now also being serialized in Square Enix’s monthly magazine Big Gangan. The manga won first place in the Web Manga category of the Next Manga Awards 2022.
Square Enix publishes the series in English and describes the story as follows:
At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can’t find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he’s made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn’t realize he already knows her!
