Sunao Katabuchi Unveils New Short Film “Fukufuku no Chizu”

Director Sunao Katabuchi has released his new brand film Fukufuku no Chizu on the official “Fukushima Map” website and YouTube channel of Fukushima Prefecture.

Fukufuku no Chizu is a short animated film created as the second brand movie for the “Fukushima Map”, a comprehensive information magazine about the region.

The story follows Sophie, a French philosopher who travels to Fukushima Prefecture to attend a friend’s wedding. After losing her map in this unfamiliar place, she begins a journey across Fukushima, guided by a mysterious companion who suddenly appears.

Musician Kotringo shared that she composed the music as if traveling alongside Sophie, aiming to capture the region’s rich nature, its enduring cultural traditions, and the deep connections between people and life.
