The TV anime Eren the Southpaw, based on an original work by Kappy, will feature Asaki Yuikawa as Yūko Akane, Tarusuke Shingaki as Shun Rukawa, and Kenichirō Matsuda as Ifū Sakuma. As a special treat for fans, a bonus will be given to attendees of the advance screenings. The anime is set to premiere on April 7, 2026.
Episodes 1 through 3 will be shown in advance at cinemas across Japan, including a special screening at Kino Cinema Shinjuku in Tokyo. The limited screenings will run for one week from March 27, 2026.
Visitors to the advance screenings will receive a 58-page prequel, “Eren the Southpaw Volume 1“, illustrated by Kappy. The prequel focuses on the high school lives of Koichi and Eren.

Eren the Southpaw was initially released as a web manga by Kappy, running from March 2016 to September 2017. A remake version, illustrated by nifuni, was later serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ from October 2017 to October 2022 and compiled into 24 volumes.
Live-action drama introduction:
Koichi Asakura struggles with the limitations of his own talent but still hangs on to the dream of one day becoming a “somebody.” Meanwhile, Eren Yamagishi is a tremendously gifted artist who must deal with the pain and loneliness that comes from being a genius. These two have a fateful encounter in high school and will eventually go their separate ways – one as a designer in a major advertising agency and the other as an artist based in New York. A mediocre talent and a genius; the two opposites go through failures and setbacks as they try to discover who they really are.
