Escaflowne 25th anniversary!

To commemorate the revival of the theatrical version of “The Vision of Escaflowne”, stage greetings will be held twice at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo on March 20th. This year marks 30 years since the TV anime aired and 25 years since the theatrical release.

The stage greetings will feature director Kazuki Akane, as well as Maaya Sakamoto, Tomokazu Seki, and Shinichiro Miki. Ticket Pia is accepting advance lottery sales from today, February 20th, until March 8th at 23:59.

In addition, details on visitor gifts for the revival screenings have been announced. The first batch will be given out on the opening day, while the second batch will be available from March 27th. Each set includes three scene photo clear sheets, with one of two designs distributed at random.

Finally, information on theatrical merchandise has also been released. A total of 14 items are planned, including an acrylic stand featuring the front and back of Escaflowne and an “88 graph light” showcasing illustrations of each character.

Crunchyroll describes The Vision of Escaflowne anime as follows:

When a young man appears from a beam of light, Hitomi Kanzaki is whisked away to a world known as Gaea. Embroiled in war against the evil empire of Zaibach, soldiers fight in armored mechas known as “Guymelefs”. There, Hitomi meets Van, the newly ordained King and his own mecha, Escaflowne. While on Gaea, Hitomi discovers a new power that could help Van save the world and get her home.
