Wakana Yamazaki Takes Health Break from Detective Conan

Akemi Okamura replaces Wakana Yamazaki.

Wakana Yamazaki, best known as the voice of Ran Mouri in Detective Conan, will take a break from voice acting due to health issues.

Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation (YTV), one of the producers of the series, shared the news on its official website. The company said that the entire production staff puts Yamazaki’s health first and wishes her a full recovery. No return date has been announced.

During her break, Akemi Okamura will take over the role of Ran Mouri. Okamura is widely known as the voice of Nami in ONE PIECE. The two actresses have worked together before, as Yamazaki voiced Nojiko in ONE PIECE and once filled in for Okamura when needed.

Okamura will make her debut as Ran in the March 14 episode of Detective Conan.

For the upcoming film, Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway, set to open in Japan on April 10, Yamazaki has already completed her recordings. She will appear as Ran in the movie as planned.
