Crunchyroll has officially announced the return of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026, which will take place in Tokyo, Japan on May 23, 2026. This event marks the 10th edition of the Anime Awards.
The ceremony will include an international pre-show, an orange carpet, and live performances, celebrating excellence across 32 anime categories.
Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira will return as co-hosts for the fourth year in a row. The global pre-show will once again be hosted by Lauren Moore and Tim Lyu from Crunchyroll.




Crunchyroll also revealed the first musical performances for the event. Legendary singer Yoko Takahashi will perform “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis” in tribute to the 30th anniversary of Neon Genesis Evangelion.


The ceremony will also feature symphonic suites conducted by Hirofumi Kurita, performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, with arrangements by Kazunori Miyake. More announcements about performances will be shared in the coming months.



The nominees will be announced on April 2, 2026, when public voting officially opens. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite anime series, films, creators, and music.
Eligible titles include anime that premiered between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Nominees are selected by a panel of independent judges, including creators, experts, and industry influencers.
The Crunchyroll Anime Awards honor the creators and artists who help spread Japanese animation worldwide. The event is organized by Crunchyroll, with support from Sony Music Solutions Inc. and Dempsey Productions, and will be streamed live globally.
