Shota x Oni Manga Gets TV Anime Adaptation as “Ore to Yu nii!”

Cute, calm, and unexpectedly addictive.

Miyuki Nakayama’s manga Shota x Oni has been adapted into a TV anime titled Ore to Yu nii!. Alongside the reveal of the official anime logo, a special congratulatory illustration by Nakayama has also been unveiled.

Special Illustration by Nakayama:

Nakayama explained the decision behind the new title:

“When adapting the work into an anime, I decided to give it a new title. Originally, it was a hobby manga that I casually posted on social media, so I used a simple, easy-to-understand category name as the title. However, considering how extensively that category name would be used as the official title in the anime adaptation, I chose to rename it ‘Ore to Yu nii!’ for the anime.

I understand that having different titles for the manga and the anime may feel strange to longtime fans, but the content remains the same—and the anime has turned out even more wonderful. I truly hope everyone looks forward to it.”

Shota x Oni follows the everyday life of Tsubaki, an elementary school boy who does his utmost to amuse his childhood friend Yu. In return, Yu can’t help but act adorable—much to Tsubaki’s delight. Originally launched as a social media comic, the series quickly gained popularity and was selected as one of the inaugural titles of Square Enix’s Gangan BLiss label in 2021. As of March 2025, the manga has been collected into six volumes.
