A special visual for Sentenced to Be a Hero was released for Labor Thanksgiving Day. The anime will begin broadcasting in January with a one-hour premiere episode, and Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.
The first episode of will be screened at Anime Frontier in Texas on December 12, from 3:30 PM to 5 PM CT.

The light novel series Sentenced to Be a Hero debuted in 2021 and has since amassed five volumes as of August 2023. Published by KADOKAWA under the Dengeki no Shibungei label, the series features illustrations by MEPHISTO.

Heroism—a punishment for only the worst criminals. Those sentenced to the fate of a hero are forced to fight on the front lines against deadly centers of contagion that rot the land and turn its creatures into roving armies of violent beasts.
