Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc Sparks Cheer Screenings Across Japan

Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc continues its global box office domination, breaking records both in Japan and abroad. To celebrate its success, cinemas across Japan are organizing special “cheer screenings” on November 14.

These screenings, held at seven theaters nationwide, encourage audiences to shout out their favorite lines and cheer for beloved characters during the film. A new instructional video, narrated by Beam (voiced by Natsuki Hanae).

Alongside the interactive screenings, moviegoers can look forward to new exclusive gifts, including a special art card by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto. Designed like a Polaroid, the illustration imagines an alternate world where Denji and Reze live normal lives as high school students.

INTRODUCTION:
“Chainsaw Man” is a manga serialized in Shueisha’s “Shonen Jump+” that has sold over 30,000,000 copies. In 2022, the series was broadcast as a TV Anime series that was made by animation studio MAPPA (Notable works: “JUJUTSU KAISEN”, “Attack on Titan Final Season”, etc.), creating buzz all over the world. Now in 2025, the episode that made the world go wild during its serialization is coming to theaters as an animated movie!

STORY:
Denji (Kikunosuke Toya) became “Chainsaw Man”, a boy with a devil’s heart, and is now part of Special Division 4’s devil hunters. After a date with Makima (Tomori Kusunoki), the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain and meets a girl called Reze (Reina Ueda). The girl, who works at a nearby café, gives him a gentle smile, and they quickly grow close. From this encounter onward, Denji’s everyday life begins to change.

The first season of Chainsaw Man was a huge success, with memorable characters and a unique aesthetic. VIZ Media releases the manga in English, Crunchyroll describes the series as such:

Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita. 

One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man” — a man with a devil’s heart.
