Look Back Anime Movie Exhibition Reveals Main Visual and Details Ahead of 2026 Opening

The movie is currently streaming on Prime Video.

An exhibition event dedicated to the theatrical anime Look Back, written by Tatsuki Fujimoto, will take place at the Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo from January 16 to March 29, 2026.

Titled “Look Back Anime Movie Exhibition — Kiyotaka Oshiyama: The Emotion of Lines“, the event will showcase the creative process behind the film. The main visual, exhibition layout, and ticket details have also been unveiled.

Main Visual:

Director Kiyotaka Oshiyama personally hosts, supervises, and provides commentary for the “Look Back Anime Movie Exhibition — Kiyotaka Oshiyama: The Emotion of Lines“. The exhibition showcases the creative process behind the film, featuring production materials such as notes, setting designs, and original drawings, all accompanied by Oshiyama’s own reflections. Original artwork covers the ceiling, forming an immersive “tunnel of drawings” that invites visitors to step directly into the world of the film.

Also on display is the title of Fujimoto’s original work. Previously distributed as a special booklet bonus for visitors of the theatrical anime, this marks the first time it will be officially made available to the public in Japan. In addition, a recreation of Fujino’s room—where the two characters collaborated will be featured as a photo spot at the venue. Visitors can also enjoy a hallway lined with sketchbooks leading to Kyomoto’s room, which has been prepared as another immersive photo area.

Starting today, November 12 at 11:30, pre-sale tickets are available. In addition to regular admission, a special “Kiyotaka Oshiyama Selection Exhibition Original T-Shirt Ticket” will be on sale for a limited time until December 8. Visitors can choose from five exclusive T-shirt designs, and each purchase comes with a free original shopper bag.

Furthermore, L-Ticket will offer an exclusive “L-Ticket Limited Exhibition Original Sacoche”, featuring an illustration taken directly from the theatrical anime’s original drawings.

Look Back won hearts with its touching story that explores themes of friendship, perseverance and art. The work follows the lives of two young artistic talents, Ayumu Fujino and Kyomoto, as they navigate the ups and downs of their relationship, artistic career and personal challenges.

STAFF:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Popular, outgoing Fujino is celebrated by her classmates for her funny comics in the class newspaper. One day, her teacher asks her to share the space with Kyomoto, a truant recluse whose beautiful artwork sparks a competitive fervor in Fujino. What starts as jealousy transforms when Fujino realizes their shared passion for drawing.

Based on the acclaimed manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of “Chainsaw Man”, Look Back captures the highs and lows of pursuing artistic excellence and the special bonds formed through creative collaboration. The heart-wrenching story is the stunning feature-length directorial debut from Kiyotaka Oshiyama that will leave you in tears and inspire you to chase your own artistic dreams.
