The first illustration in The Apothecary Diaries’ 2025 Halloween art series has just been unveiled, featuring Xiaolan and Shisui in a special seasonal theme. This artwork marks the beginning of a three-part Halloween release, with the next piece set to be revealed later today.
The series will return for a third season, airing in two separate cours, the first in October 2026 and the second in April 2027. In addition, the franchise will release its first theatrical film in December 2026 in Japan, featuring an all-new original story written by Natsu Hyuga, the creator of the series.

The Apothecary Diaries is based on the light novels by Natsu Hyuuga and Touko Shino. Crunchyroll streams the series and describes it:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty.
