Kyobansai – Kyoto Soundtrack Festival marks a pioneering music festival in Japan, dedicated entirely to the power of anime soundtracks. Though background scores have long been pivotal to enhancing anime scenes, no festival had spotlighted this genre until now, thanks to composer Yuki Hayashi’s vision.
This year, Kyobansai returns with a two-day spectacular at the ROHM Theatre Kyoto Main Hall, showcasing live performances of anime compositions paired with animation visuals
Until now, tickets had only been available within Japan, but from Thursday, August 21, sales will officially open for audiences overseas.

Sunday, September 21 – “Mibu-Rock: Kyobansai × Anime ‘Blue Miburo’”
A special collaboration featuring the anime Blue Miburo. The day promises live soundtrack performances by Yuki Hayashi, a reading of an original script by the star-studded voice actors of the series, including Umeda Shuuichirou, Kobayashi Chiaki, Horie Shun, Azakami Yohei, Ono Kensho, Takeuchi Ryota, and Sugita Tomokazu, live dubbing, and an after-talk.

Kyobansai 2025 is set to be an unprecedented festival spotlighting anime soundtrack compositions as a true musical art form. Held on September 20 and 21 at Kyoto’s ROHM Theatre, the event features stellar composer lineups, vibrant anime collaborations, and exclusive fan experiences. It’s a unique fusion of music, animation, and storytelling crafted to deepen audiences’ appreciation for the emotional craft of anime scoring.
