Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME Hits 100,000 Pre-Registrations, Unlocks Rewards for Fans

Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G. are excited to announce that “KAIJU NO. 8 THE GAME” has surpassed 100,000 pre-registrations worldwide. Players can unlock exclusive characters and premium in-game items upon launch, with rewards growing as more pre-registration milestones are reached.

To celebrate 100,000 pre-registrations, players will receive 100,000 Credits, and if the community hits 500,000 pre-registrations, even more characters and rewards will be unlocked!

Based on the hit manga series by Naoya Matsumoto, Kaiju No. 8 is an anime adaptation of the ongoing manga serialized on Shonen Jump+ (published by Shueisha) since 2020. As of April 2025, the manga has over 18 million copies in circulation in Japan and has accumulated more than 700 million views on Shonen Jump+.

Kaiju No. 8 became a breakout hit during its original broadcast from April to June 2024, consistently topping daily streaming charts across major platforms in Japan. A theatrical compilation of Season 1 was released on March 28, 2025, accompanied by a special feature titled Hoshina’s Day Off. The much-anticipated Season 2 is officially set to premiere in July 2025.

In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the Japan Defense Force to defeat them.

“Let’s wipe out the Kaiju together.”

Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.

He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force’s 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her.

At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka’s ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together.
