Emi Shinohara Passes Away at 61

Known for her role as Kushina Uzumaki from Naruto.

It was announced on the official 81 Produce website that Emi Shinohara passed away on September 8 at the age of 61. On the site, the text reads, “While recuperating from an illness, he passed away at the age of 61 without the effect of medicine”.

Shinohara, born on August 8, 1963, in Fukushima Prefecture, is known for voicing Sailor Jupiter in the anime series Sailor Moon, Kaho Mizuki in Cardcaptor Sakura, Kushina Uzumaki in Naruto Shippuden, and Eri Ochiai in Satoshi Kon’s film Perfect Blue.

In addition to her anime voice acting, she also lent her voice to the Japanese dubs of various foreign films and TV shows, including Perdita in 101 Dalmatians: The Series, April O’Neil in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, and Natalie Portman’s character Mathilda Lando in Léon: The Professional.
