The official website of Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain has released a Making-of Video! The first chapter was released on July 26 in Japanese theaters.

The staff revealed that the Mononoke film project will consist of three films. The second film, named “Gekijōban Mononoke Second Chapter: Hinezumi,” will premiere in Japan on March 14, 2025. The staff also announced that Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain won the Axis: Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation at the 28th Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.

The Mononoke film was revealed during the 15th-anniversary event for the 2007 Mononoke series in June 2022, with an initial aim for release in 2023. Mononoke originates as a spin-off from the 2006 series Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales.
