2 Annie Awards for Hayao Miyazaki’s Film The Boy and the Heron!

The Boy and the Heron gives itself a second wind!

At the 51st Annie Awards, Hayao Miyazaki‘s film The Boy and the Heron won two awards for Best Character Animation – Feature and Best Storyboarding – Feature. Additionally, composer Joe Hisaishi received the Winsor McCay Award for lifetime contributions.

Despite nominations in several categories, Suzume did not win any awards. The Boy and the Heron previously won Best Motion Picture – Animated at the Golden Globe Awards and is nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 96th Academy Awards. The film, was released in Japan on July 14, 2023, 1st November in France and December 8 in the USA.
